A Decision That Hurts My Heart: A Plea for McCain from a Black Male Democrat — BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES

As a black male Democrat, I just made a decision that hurts my heart.

I’m voting for McCain and urge you all do the same. I disagree with John on many issues, and true he has the same character flaws all human beings do: sometimes we lie, sometimes we cheat, sometimes we flip-flop. But John McCain’s long military and political record shows his love and loyalty to America. And all Americans can agree with his intolerance for out-of-control spending and earmarks and his insistence on energy independence.

Even the NYT Can’t Save Obama Tax Plan

Posted in Public Affairs, Money Matters, wordpress, Politics, campaign, election, Biden, Democrats, liberal, News Media, Kennedy, Clinton, disclosure, ethics, obama, hillary, Pelosi, Reid on October 31st, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

Try as it will the NYT fish wrap continues to bias its reporting in support of Obama but cannot do it effectively as even the Obama camp lowers expectations. With taxpayer interest groups favoring McCain over Obama and Joe Biden lowering the $250K target for those getting tax breaks to $150K and now the NYT lowering the threshhold to $100K the house of cards of Obama on taxes is simply a joke.

Calling the analysis of tax plans ‘independent’ does not make it so. The Tax Policy Center, The Urban Institute as well as the Brookings Institution are not necessarily non-partisan and independent.

obama's see through tax planWhen the abstract alone of the candidate tax plans describes them as poor or poorly targeted a closer look would be needed to find support for the NYT claim that Obama’s plan is better for anyone. In the excerpt below one caveat comes from the NYT’s own description that ‘Mr Obama would GENERALLY cut taxes more’ and leaves one with the feeling someone is splitting hairs on this appraisal. And where does the so-called independent analysis state those under $250K would not see a tax increase? And this doesn’t even come close to explaining where Obama gets the money to pay for his trillion dollar spending proposal. Gouging the small group of wealthy citizens who pay the lion’s share of taxes in this country won’t cover it.

Already stated, the most important feature of the Obama tax cutting claim is two-fold. The campaign started with a $250K threshhold, lowered it to $150K and their biggest media friend only allows a $100k threshhold to promote the plan. Secondly, for Obama to have any chance at an agenda if elected he has to contend with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and company. Without their support he doesn’t stand a chance and may not even care if his campaign promises are torpedoed by other Democrats. It would let him off the hook. He could simply say, gee, I tried but Harry and Nancy wouldn’t let me. Just like Kennedy told Hillary she couldn’t play, he was choosing Obama along with the remainder of the DNC elite and the main stream media.

This is another reason to vote for McCain/Palin

By STEVEN GREENHOUSE
Published: October 30, 2008

Independent analyses of the presidential candidates’ tax proposals show that those who make less than $250,000 a year would not see their taxes raised under Senator Barack Obama’s plans. Further, Mr. Obama would generally cut taxes more than Senator John McCain would for households with incomes less than $100,000 a year.

Anita Moncrief, ACORN, Obama and the Ties That Bind

An Acorn Whistleblower Testifies in Court

The group’s ties to Obama are extensive.

(click on link above for full story)

they already voted early and oftenThe summary and review includes the well known fact that the FBI is investigating ACORN. Anita Moncrief, a former ACORN employee turned whistleblower, has testified in PA state court of ACORN’s wrongdoing. Obama has lied but Obama is tied to ACORN back to 1995 and maybe before then.

Wade Rathke was or is the kingpin and founder and his brother embezzled a million from ACORN which was kept secret. Not only is Obama tied to ACORN but so are other Democratic party presidential campaigns and the DNC.

The habit of blaming illegal activity within ACORN to low level employees was called ‘throwing folks under the bus.’ The $800,000 plus given to ACORN by Obama was initially described for other things but shown to be for get out the vote efforts by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review. The IRS and the FEC are involved and it just keeps getting better.

Yes, Mr Obama, the word is out. You are tied to ACORN directly. They helped you get started in politics just like Ayers, illegally or unethically. You are tied to political corruption and worse from Illinois to the national level. Even the DNC is involved with you and your shady dealings.

ACORN knew of fraudulent voter registration forms, ex-employee of Project Vote says
By MARIO F. CATTABIANI
The Philadelphia Inquirer

A former employee of an affiliate of ACORN testified Wednesday that the community group now in the national spotlight knew that most new voter registration forms it had gathered were fraudulent.

“Forty percent was OK,” said Anita Moncrief, referring to the number of bona fide registrations that officials at the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now believed was acceptable.

obama, the truth hurtUsing just the ACORN estimate of 1.3 million registrations gives another estimate of over a half million illegal registrations. And that is not even a precise measure of how bad this thing could be. And Obama gave $800000 or more dollars to ACORN for ‘get out the vote’ efforts. How about calling it what it is, a stuff the ballot box effort by the Messiah.

Another set of facts that support the McCain/Palin ticket in the 2008 Presidential election. Obama is not only not ready to lead but has been shown to be connected to the corrupt dealings of ACORN, shady real estate deals with Tony Rezko, the race baiting and hate mongering of Rev Wright, a domestic terrorist William Ayers and has at least one corrupt slumlord advisor named Valerie Jarrett. The list goes on and on and is documented on this blog as well as other sources.

Don’t let your desire to fix things in Washington blind your ability to see the scam of Obama on election day. Just as Hillary Rodham Clinton was not the right person to be the first woman elected President the same goes for Barack Obama. Electing this scam as the first black President would mar an otherwise historic event that would be cause for celebration were it not for his unfortunate rise in politics through corruption and misleading the public.

Two Candidates, One Cloaked in Secrecy

Posted in Public Affairs, wordpress, Politics, campaign, election, Biden, McCain, disclosure, ethics, obama, hillary, Gov Sarah Palin on October 29th, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

McCain, ObamaAmid all the videos presented on this blog recently and that will be from now on until the 2008 Presidential election has concluded a post from time to time providing some explanation of views should be presented. We are all familiar with the many arguments, campaign presentations, media reports and other sources offering attempts to persuade voters in the coming election. This blog has made an effort to convince people to vote for candidates also and will continue to do so. But a break from the usual or typical method may be useful.

This is limited to the choice between Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama for President in this 2008 election. One discussion that seems to be missing has been presented here before and warrants mention again. Like any other campaign/election the candidates have proposed plans as their response to various issues. And it is no surprise that much has been made of these plans. The reason this seems odd is whatever the reason people act as though these plans will be reality when one of the candidates is elected. Doesn’t that seem absurd to you?

There is no guarantee that any candidate plans will become reality if legislation is required. The policy intentions may, depending on the case, be subject to executive order as a method for their establishment but most things will need to be legislated or otherwise approved by Congress, like confirmations and the like. So the only reason to be concerned about legislative proposals from candidates is if you believe they have a chance to pass. And even then, the likelihood of being passed as introduced is minuscule. Yes, you become concerned about proposals you disagree with or do not believe as you think this gives an indication of what the candidate will try to do once in office. Fair enough. But look at how many plans during a campaign have never seen the light of day once the candidate was elected.

So what about other candidate attributes? That has been more difficult to parse throughout the campaign after the choices were reduced to two people. Logic would dictate that the task should have been much simpler once the field was narrowed from more than a half dozen or so on each side to two. But that is not the case. Why? Actually, John McCain and Joe Biden are better known quantities than either Barack Obama or Sarah Palin. But first a review of the two running for President. Barack Obama was probably not known nationally until the now famous 2004 speech at the Democratic party convention. And if you were like the author of this blog you really don’t remember hearing about it until the 2008 campaign got underway. But many other people seem to be aware of it.

BidenJohn McCain on the other hand has been around for a long time and with varying degrees of familiarity to the details most people know him quite well. Simply because their careers have some similar details both McCain and Biden are frequently described by others in the business of politics as Senators in good standing with the typical number of glitches in their histories. Both McCain and Biden are known to irritate others from time to time and while Biden has more of a reputation for speaking before thinking, McCain’s temper has been known to cause him a problem from time to time. Biden is hamstrung to some degree by the plagiarism scandal and McCain although only mildly admonished by the Senate Ethics Committee has the Keating Five episode on his resume’. Beyond that the two Senators have what could probably be referred to as what one Democrat and one Republican would have for records after many years in Congress.

Barack Obama and Sarah Palin being the lesser known in the two pairings present different scenarios. The short version on Palin is like Obama her career is notPalin long. But most of her history minus the media and other sources who have muddied the water is not much concern for the voter. No one seems to have challenged her stature as the most popular Governor in the country. No one seems to challenge the fact that she is responsible for attending to her state constituents including negotiating significant annual residuals from energy revenues as income for residents. And there still are a great many people who view Sarah Palin as more like the ordinary citizen than the majority of those who populate Washington elected offices. And whether true or not most of her history is out there. The same cannot be said of Barack Obama.

Even leaving out the recent citizenship question on Barack Obama which has not been satisfied in many people’s view, his reluctance to share his history from Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard Law must raise some questions privately among the liberals if not publicly. It is reminiscent of Hillary Rodham Clinton refusing to release her records as First Lady until after the election. What is that about? What happened to full disclosure for candidates? Even if not required that must send up some warning flags for most voters. Has Sarah Palin refused to release any information that was requested of her?

questionsOf the associations for which Barack Obama has received criticism why was he initially reluctant to respond? Why did he try to minimize his relationship with Rev Wright and only severed ties when the political liability became too risky? Why did he do the same about William Ayers in referring to him as just a guy in the neighborhood until the story grew legs? Even subsequent responses were less than candid and could even be characterized as lies when follow up reports were released. He shrugged off his ties with Tony Rezko and the real estate deal with him only to describe it as a bonehead move later on when he could no longer distance himself from it. These are just a few of the problems people see with Barack Obama. Not necessarily so much the associations and events but the way he responds to inquiries. Especially when those responses are later replaced with admissions of some guilt or error.

That is why this blog supports McCain/Palin. And it is also why more videos and more reports on Barack Obama and Joe Biden will follow from now to the aftermath of the election and beyond if need be. There are too many unanswered questions about Barack Obama. The media has been complicit in providing biased coverage as indicated by the Pew Research report and other media critics. You have to ask yourself is the coverage of negative reports about Obama limited to conservative sources solely as a campaign strategy or is there some underlying truth mixed in all those reports? Even if the percentage of true reports was limited to 10 or 20% it would be enough to raise suspicion in most people’s minds if they were aware of it. But the MSM has dropped the ball on such reporting of Obama. In the rare instance they report something objectionable about Obama they dismiss it almost in the same breath.

Careful who you vote for people. You won’t be able to correct that choice so easy after election day.

Berg vs Obama to SCOTUS

Posted in Public Affairs, wordpress, Politics, campaign, election, America, United States, Law, Justice, obama on October 29th, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

Philip J. Berg is Appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court as Obama is “NOT” qualified to be President of the United States
Lawsuit Against Obama Dismissed from Philadelphia Federal Court
For Immediate Release: - 10/25/08 - Contact Info at end.

UPDATE: Ruling attached at end. It’s a really poor copy, but it is all we have for the moment. Willl put up a better copy when we get one.

the courts(Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania – 10/25/08) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, the Attorney who filed suit against Barack H. Obama challenging Senator Obama’s lack of “qualifications” to serve as President of the United States, announced today that he is immediately appealing the dismissal of his case to the United States Supreme Court. The case is Berg v. Obama, No. 08-cv-04083.

Berg said, “I am totally disappointed by Judge Surrick’s decision and, for all citizens of the United States, I am immediately appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court.

This is a question of who has standing to uphold our Constitution. If I don’t have standing, if you don’t have standing, if your neighbor doesn’t have standing to question the eligibility of an individual to be President of the United States - the Commander-in-Chief, the most powerful person in the world - then who does?

So, anyone can just claim to be eligible for congress or the presidency without having their legal status, age or citizenship questioned.

According to Judge Surrick, we the people have no right to police the eligibility requirements under the U.S. Constitution.

What happened to ‘…Government of the people, by the people, for the people,…’ Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address 1863.

We must legally prevent Obama, the unqualified candidate, from taking the Office of the Presidency of the United States,” Berg said.

Our website obamacrimes.com now has 71.8 + million hits. We are urging all to spread the word of our website – and forward to your local newspapers and radio and TV stations.

Berg again stressed his position regarding the urgency of this case as, “we” the people, are heading to a “Constitutional Crisis” if this case is not resolved forthwith.

McCain: Straight Talk on Immigration

Posted in Public Affairs, Terrorism, wordpress, Politics, campaign, youtube, McCain, Immigration, Tancredo, disclosure, ethics, United States, Law, Justice, Safety, Video, Public, Border Control, Legislation, Blogs4Borders, Gov Sarah Palin on October 29th, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

The one concern from most people known to the author of this blog on John McCain and his positions is immigration. This video is dated August 2007. Just about the time the McCain Kennedy Amnesty legislation was defeated. Shortly after the defeat McCain had said the measure was a mistake based on the public outcry to it. Two things to remember. No candidate is perfect. Amnesty was defeated before and will be defeated if brought up again. This blog views this one McCain flaw as a moot point. But in fairness to readers it is provided for what one may call full disclosure.

The author of this blog urges readers to vote for McCain/Palin for President and Vice President this election. The alternative is far too dangerous to consider.

Biden Dismissed Concerns About Obama’s Dwindling Lead in Polls

Posted in Public Affairs, wordpress, Politics, campaign, election, Biden, McCain, News Media, obama, Opinion on October 28th, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

Democrats are concerned that Obama/Biden cannot close the deal and Biden as usual tries to paint over the shortcomings of the ticket and the party.

ABC must be trying to look fair by posting this mild, small report. They use a Biden quote for the title but the important part is in the subtitle that has been used here for the title of this post.

Continuing to harp on the lame argument that McCain is the same as Bush is ridiculous. For all you liberals out there, that would be like saying Obama is the same as Biden, Kerry, Clinton or Edwards. They may all be in the same party but they have differences.

If you look at some recent history like the 2000 primaries, how do you remember George Bush and John McCain then? If McCain works against Bush he gets criticized. If McCain works with Bush he gets criticized. How about understanding by his record John McCain as he has said many times is willing to work with anyone on either side of the aisle to get America’s work done.

The American voter by virtue of this curious report from ABC and the polling data for months plus commentary from around the country is waking up to the fact that Obama is a mirage. His associations, his politics and the little history of him he cannot hide indicates many of the allegations against him are true.

Wouldn’t a reasonable person meet charges head on and provide the necessary proof to defeat them if they existed? Why would a person run the risk of being viewed as something they are not if they had evidence to vindicate themselves?

Joe Biden has done more to uncover the real Obama than the main stream media. It would be fair to say that Barack Obama may be regretting his selection for Vice-President. But it could be a good thing for the rest of us.

More recent records like Obama’s interview on local Chicago public radio in 2001 give support to the notion the media is trying to dismiss about socialism. Barack Obama opened the door with his comments to Joe the Plumber. The media and Obama dismissed it. Now the interview from 2001. More discussion of the redistribution of wealth and Obama is still trying to talk his way out of it.

Maybe this is why Obama cannot close the deal and why Biden dismisses the evaporating lead in the polls and that the public does not know if their ticket can achieve change. It is not that the public does not know. They are coming to understand how dangerous an Obama presidency would be.

Could the media be changing after all the media bashing protesting bias? Or is this just a matter of polls changing to reflect more voters getting involved? A Boston Herald report opened with ‘a nine point lead’ for Obama at Gallup, one of the three polls monitored here, but did not lead with the other model from Gallup which is five points. This morning Zogby and Rasmussen are hovering around five points and then there is the video presented in this post. How about that one poll with a double digit lead? Hmmmm.

Media Bias on Media Bias

Posted in Public Affairs, wordpress, Politics, campaign, election, News Media, disclosure, ethics, oversight, Opinion on October 27th, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

The Pew Research study is all over the news outlets. That Pew is referred to as non-partisan can give one pause just as with any other resource being designated as not having a party affiliation. How exactly they determined that the skewed negative reporting of McCain is a function of a ’struggling campaign’ rather than media bias favoring Obama will require some study. At least they are stating coverage of McCain is ‘largely negative.’

McCain’s media coverage largely negative, Pew Research Center finds
The study says more than half of the recent reports about the Republican candidate cast him in a bad light — but notes that trend probably reflects his struggling campaign, not a pro-Obama media bias

That the LA Times (above) and ABC News (below) present the case of McCain receiving more negative coverage than Obama may be related to the difficulty in ignoring a report from Pew Research. Oh yes, but then they have the space to add their own two cents worth to mold the report into a more satisfying light and deflect media criticism. Not that the Pew report doesn’t already do that for them. Isn’t this a little like the defendant acting as the judge?

The Project for Excellence in Journalism looks at the coverage of the two presidential candidates since the conventions and concludes “The media coverage of the race for president has not so much cast Barack Obama in a favorable light as it has portrayed John McCain in a substantially negative one…coverage of McCain has been heavily unfavorable—and has become more so over time.”

No, the typo in the headline below is not from this blog. That is how it was found on the internet. No matter, it is simply another report on the Pew findings that appear to be all but carbon copies at each source. The excerpt below is from an Australian source and again supports the notion that Obama gets better coverage. What does that work out to, 1 in 7 reports about McCain are positive? The guess here is those reports are more of a bio thing like saying he is a veteran and spent time as a POW. Is it any wonder that TPM had a search result that suggested 70% of the public believes the media is actively supporting Obama for President?

Bracak Obama shown in better light than rival John McCain

WASHINGTON: Republican presidential hopeful John McCain is struggling against a tide of largely negative media coverage while his Democratic rival, Barack Obama, is cast in a mostly positive light, a survey reported yesterday.

The non-partisan Pew Research Centre’s Project for Excellence in Journalism found that a majority of stories concerning Senator McCain between September 8 and October 16 were negative in nature. Only 14 per cent were positive.

Okay, according to the snippet below we can expand the positive coverage in the media to all things Democratic party. And we probably all knew already that most of us rely on reporting from blogs to sort out what is really happening in the campaign. No, this blog cannot be defined as independent in the sense that there is no bias here. The bias here is based on the notion the left, Democratic party, or however you wish to designate those who are not conservative, as in liberal, hold with an agenda believed to be dangerous in terms of protecting our United States with their surrender and appeasement tendencies as well as policies for other major issues incapable of limiting government and expanding individual freedom far beyond recent lapses in the GOP in that regard. A reformed GOP will be significantly less problematic then the loose cannons from the liberal universe.

Democrats do best out of the coverage

LOS ANGELES: Media coverage of the presidential race has not always been glowing for Barack Obama but it has certainly been negative for John McCain.

Another report has found the election is driving record numbers of visitors to independent political blogs.

This blog has been subjected to bias and censorship not unlike the real players in this campaign. But that is a story for another time. The methods by which we communicate and the sources we use for information are being challenged to deliver the truth. This may be more of a test for all of us than the impending election. But the election and voter response to it is being challenged by the delivery of information. If the large media outlets are skewing their reports in favor of one candidate or another we all have something to lose. The question focused on at this blog has been the limited availability of information on the candidate Barack Obama. The negative response by his opponents including this blog as well as the staunch and perhaps blind support from his proponents are not served by restricted access. Most notably the lack of coverage regarding his citizenship and its status. It is yet another topic that the Obama camp is reluctant to address. And yet the media concentrates negative reporting about McCain and positive reporting about Obama. Explain that one.

With Few Exceptions, Polls Still Close

Posted in Public Affairs, wordpress, Politics, campaign, election, McCain, News Media on October 27th, 2008 by Stanford Matthews

mccain, palinThere is good reason for McCain to dismiss the polls. This blog has regularly followed three polling sources, Gallup, Rasmussen and Zogby. The double digit spreads suggested by some polls over recent weeks has been a curious development. This observer noted that of the three being monitored here, Gallup was reporting double digit spreads occasionally and was frequently releasing polls with larger spreads than the other two. Zogby approached double digits spreads recently but by and large all three have shown mid single digits as the best lead by Obama. With or without margins for error the 2008 Presidential election campaign is much closer than the main stream media would have you believe.

This is the polling situation at Gallup currently.
‘Barack Obama leads John McCain in both of the latest Gallup likely voter estimates — 50% to 45% using the traditional model, and a slightly larger lead with 52% to 43% in the expanded model.’

And at Rasmussen it is Obama 52%, McCain 44% with Obama gaining one point since Friday. Zogby shows the spread between McCain and Obama at a mere 5.3% after being nearly ten or twelve points the last three days.

And like many these days this blog puts limited significance on the polls as they are just another thing to look at during the campaign.

McCain Dismisses Polls Showing Him Behind Obama

26 October 2008U.S. presidential candidate John McCain has dismissed recent opinion polls that place him behind his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama.

During an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday, McCain — a Republican — said the race is very close. He added that he believes he will win the November fourth election.

Recent polls show McCain trailing Obama — in some cases by double digits.

Senator McCain was to hold a rally today in the midwestern state of Iowa before heading to Ohio, considered one of the most important states to win in the election.
Senator Obama will appear at two rallies in Colorado. On Saturday, he campaigned in the neighboring state of New Mexico, and even farther west in Nevada.

The Illinois senator returned to the campaign trail Saturday after visiting his gravely ill grandmother in Hawaii. Madelyn Dunham, who raised Obama, turns 86 Sunday.

In a separate development, Obama’s aides announced former President Bill Clinton will campaign with the Democratic candidate for the first time at a rally this week in Florida.
