Are Geithner’s Errors Grounds to Reject His Nomination?
Just this blog’s latest two cents on the forming Obama Administration and specifically the nomination of Geithner for Secretary of the Treasury. As you may be able to glean from the titles below the problem with Mr Geithner as the Obama nominee is more than not paying taxes or hiring an illegal alien nanny. As a little side note take for example that the man who is lauded as a financial genius tried to take overnight caretaking of his children as a deduction for dependent care. Daycare is allowed but overnight care is not according to reports in the media. The view here, hey, if you think you can get a deduction go for it. If it is not allowed the IRS will flag it and tell you it’s not allowed. But when we’re talking about the Obama Administration nominee for Secretary of the Treasury that sort of choice should be troubling.
Maybe the choices made by Mr Geithner that are in the news due to his nomination tell us more about him and his fitness for a cabinet post than his employment history and education. Does a guy who earns a healthy six figures annually somehow feel above the rest or entitled to special treatment? Maybe those of us who can be denied a job for things that have nothing to do with our ability to perform the occupational duties should use a litmus test for public officials that hold them to a higher standard than appears to be the reaction from some on Capitol Hill.
This blog says Geithner should take a walk and not be nominated.
