Mexico supports illegal immigration to the US

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Arizona voters, taken after the ruling was issued, finds that 66% still favor the recently passed immigration law. Twenty-seven percent (27%) are opposed. Support for the law is unchanged from when it was first passed in April.

By a 59% to 34% margin, Arizona voters disagree with Judge Susan Bolton’s decision to block implementation of some parts of the law.

Not surprisingly, voters favor Governor Jan Brewer’s decision to appeal the ruling by a 59% to 29% margin. Brewer has risen in popularity since signing the law and is now well ahead in the Arizona governor’s race.

Nationally, 59% of voters support passage of a law like Arizona’s in their own state, and 50% disagree with the judge’s ruling.

It is extremely rare that this blog author watches television. Before last Sunday I can only guess that it has been many months with the exception of the occasional online news video featured on this blog. So what was the attraction to listen to Meet the Press this week?

I couldn’t resist the appeal to confirm my suspicions that listening to Gregory’s guests would be excruciating. It was. Governor Rendell, Mayor Bloomberg and former Fed Chair Alan Greenspan were predictable as well as annoying.

Either during a commercial interruption or after the programmed concluded I took a quick look at what was on the other channels. My location features 11 off-air OMG digital broadcast channels. That’s right. No point in subscribing to cable or satellite if I don’t watch TV more than once every few months for less than an hour.

The local public television station offers three channels. One of them was airing a public affairs program populated only by liberals and perhaps a token conservative. The liberals were whining about Arizona’s state immigration law. Along with that they were whining about all the racism and inequality in America.

The point is this. One of the fine liberals concluded the poll data above or other polling data like it was wrong. He did his level best to convince the viewers he was right and most people opposed the Arizona law.

The problem is he had no data, no evidence or any other information to support his opinion. He simply presented his opinion as fact. This is exactly the reason I do not watch television very often. Given the financial woes of most broadcast and print media it may be the only people watching regularly are liberals.

Where else would anyone agree with their fantasies? And how long will it be until the rest of the liberal media goes the way of Air America? (bankrupt and out of business)

With any luck at all a return to the rule of law will begin after Novmeber 2010. Then the simple method of cutting off taxpayer provided benefits, free education for illegals, anchor babies and chain migration as well as sanctions against employers who hire illegals can begin in earnest.

For a return to national security and border control we can borrow a currently familiar phrase. ‘Yes we can.’ To anyone who claims it is not possible to remove all illegals from the US I say you are a closet shamnesty supporter. The simple method outlined above is more than possible. It is necessary and will work. Those who oppose it support illegal immigration.

Human Rights vs Human Responsibility

justice_is_blindHardly a day goes by without some ‘rights group’ being featured in the MSM. There are groups that could be defined as ‘responsibility groups’ but they receive little attention from those individuals that regard themselves as journalists or organizations that claim to present news and information based on standards of journalism.

Last week one report opened by describing Human Rights Watch as a ‘leading human rights group.’ Could the author be referring to the executive director’s salary? Since 1993 a lawyer named Kenneth Roth has been the executive director of HRW with an annual salary of $350,000. That’s nearly 18% of HRW’s management and general expenses for the year. And they may have 275 employees. And let’s not forget their fundraising expenses of $8,641,358 for 2008 (according to Wiki).

The non-governmental organization claims they do not accept government money directly. But they receive funds from other groups who may. And they supported ACORN at least in 2000 and/or 2001 to the tune of a half-million dollars.

So what’s this all about? The report out last week has Human Rights Watch whining about the rights of illegals. And for all their whining the problem they perceive could be solved if no one entered the United States illegally. They bad mouth countries all over the world for claimed wrongdoing. It is interesting that they say nothing about Mexico’s ‘responsibility’ to correct their own problems and eliminate the attraction to cross the border illegally into another country.

Here’s the report. Have a good laugh. HRW is a scam. The last three paragraphs assume the reader is extremely gullible. Correction, the entire report assumes you are gullible.

from VOA News….

A leading human rights group is calling on the U.S. Congress and the Obama administration to include protections for immigrants’ rights in their proposals for immigration reform.

New York-based Human Rights Watch released a report Friday saying more needs to be done to protect undocumented immigrants in the workplace and in court.

The group says at work such people are vulnerable to exploitation - including sexual abuse and poor working conditions - and should be allowed to find other jobs in such cases.

It also recommends giving undocumented immigrants a path to legalization that includes government protection, so they feel safe to report crimes.

Earlier this month, President Obama called for bipartisan support for immigration reform. He described overhauling the system as a “moral imperative.” Congress is sharply divided over the issue, with Republicans generally opposing what they call amnesty programs.

The Human Rights Watch report also urges the government to allow immigration judges to consider the ties legal permanent residents have in the United States before deporting them for minor crimes. The group says thousands of legal residents are deported each year without having their family connections or past military service considered.

Human Rights Watch also calls on the government to limit immigrant detentions. The group says those who have committed nonviolent crimes should be exempt from detention.

This is no surprise to anyone. Beyond the problem of national security, border control and ignoring the rule of law and founding principles of our nation illegal immigration is a crushing economic burden. It’s time for a reminder to all the liberals supporting shamnesty. Like the rest of the liberal agenda the notion of shamnesty is dangerous. An excerpt from a new report on the economic risks associated with illegal immigration is presented below followed by a link to the full report. Read it and weep, or join the fight against illegal immigration to save our country.

Arizona vs White House: Brewer to Meet with Obama

Posted in Public Affairs, Terrorism, wordpress, Politics, Tancredo, News Media, United States, Law, Justice, obama, Arizona, Border Control, Legislation, Mexico, Blogs4Borders, Jan Brewer on June 2nd, 2010 by Stanford Matthews

Here’s one of those instances where news reports suggest confusion by public officials or news sources.

Tuesday, 01 Jun 2010 04:00 PM

White House spokesman Adam Abrams said over the weekend that Obama’s schedule “doesn’t allow for a meeting” with Brewer but added that the president “does intend to sit down with the governor in the future.”

Tuesday, 01 Jun 2010 07:47 PM

A White House official said Tuesday that the meeting between Obama and Republican Gov. Jan Brewer is scheduled for Thursday. The official requested anonymity to discuss the president’s schedule ahead of its public release.

The 400pm excerpt is from Fox News. As it is dated only a few hours before the second report you might wonder if the WH gave Fox one response and AP another. Regardless of that the fine ‘anonymous source’ from the WH claims Obama and Brewer will have a sit down Thursday.

This meeting could be the part in this story where we see who is playing games and who is real. You could say that both Obama and Brewer have drawn their own lines in the sand on this issue. And it would seem one must relinquish some ground for the other to succeed. Brewer may have more riding on this than Obama. Will she stand her ground or cave to the pressure?

The following may suggest how tough Brewer will be given the mood of the country.

Poll: Arizona Immigration Law Popular Nationally
Tuesday, 01 Jun 2010 02:35 PM

The Arizona immigration law continues to receive high marks in national polls from registered voters even as it remains unpopular in liberal circles.

In the latest Quinnipiac University poll, released Tuesday, 48 percent said they want their state to pass legislation similar to Arizona’s, while 35 percent said they do not. Overall, 51 percent approve of the law, opposed to 31 percent who disapprove.

This dovetails with a series of other recent polls that have showed support as high as two-thirds of respondents backing the law, which Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed in April, It has sparked a heated debate over the direction of the nation’s immigration policy.

Politics of Illegal Immigration

Posted in Public Affairs, Terrorism, wordpress, Politics, McCain, Immigration, Tancredo, United States, Law, Justice, Arizona, Border Control, Legislation, Mexico, Blogs4Borders on June 1st, 2010 by Stanford Matthews

Illegal immigration may be the issue that most effectively dmonstrates the political divide within the United States. Most if not all on the left support shamnesty for illegals. Some like John McCain also support shamnesty and do not belong on the right. Both major political parties are guilty of pandering to the shamnesty crowd for votes. If ever there was a test case for bipartisanship illegal immigration is it. Both major parties should let the votes fall where they may and do the right thing together.

A series of videos were presented here last week dealing with the issue. Among them were two featuring Milton Friedman. The wisdom of Friedman provides much needed clarity about immigration. When people were asked if immigration worked in the past they said yes. When asked if it works now people said no. The reason is simple and elegant like most intelligent appraisals.

Earlier in our nation’s history immigrants came to America with skills that allowed them to contribute and everyone gained from the experience. Since then entitlements that provide benefit without contribution allow those coming here illegally to benefit at the expense of others. In other words those who enter the US now are essentially guaranteed a certain standard of living for doing nothing.

Then there are those who cross the border just before giving birth. Presto, change-o, your baby is an American. There is chain migration that the shamnesty crowd uses to pull on the heartstrings of the uninformed. When one illegal is here give them amnesty. Then let the entire family and others follow. The crushing burden of such practices only serves those who believe government should be your nanny.

There is a troubling article from WaPo on the issue from May 29th of this year. It starts out by suggesting little can be done and the situation is virtually hopeless.

The border crossers are so determined, and so impervious to a long-running buildup of federal agents and technology, that few here think President Obama’s recent decision to dispatch 1,200 National Guard soldiers and $500 million will make much difference.

The story centers around the Tucson sector and Nogales. The title describes the flow of illegals concentrating in this area. The only funny part of the story indicates that ‘boycotts’ work both ways.

He said benefactors who support the Arizona law have vowed to withhold contributions from the Tucson Catholic Diocese because clergy publicly oppose it.

The quantity of traffic legal and otherwise, free trade agreements and US companies moving their operations south, troubles from Mexico spilling over the border and all the rest define what’s wrong.

The situation is out of control. Not an uncommon feature for critical issues being ignored by public officials whose income derives from taxpayers. Their agendas as well as some in the private sector rely on illegal immigration. And it is time for it to stop. And stopping it is easy.

The second video in this series includes a discussion of Calderon’s errors in his push for shamnesty. It is also interesting the Mexican president criticizes Arizona’s law and how it might be misused yet Mexico was slammed by ‘human rights’ groups for mistreating illegals. Conveniently Mexico claims they no longer view illegal entry as a crime yet their handling of such matters includes more protections than they suggest the US should employ.

Calderon is a liberal PR nightmare in the making. That’s helpful for November 2010.

Mexican President Calderon Impresses US Democrats in Congress

Posted in Public Affairs, Terrorism, wordpress, Politics, Immigration, Tancredo, disclosure, ethics, United States, Law, Justice, Border Control, Legislation, Mexico, Blogs4Borders, 9/11 on May 23rd, 2010 by Stanford Matthews

For the record, a series of videos will be presented here on the issue of illegal immigration. The content of this first video in the series is absolutely not endorsed by this blog. To the contrary, Felipe Calderon is in lock step with the open borders, shamnesty crowd. Keep in mind that US Congressional Democrats gave him a standing ovation. Needless to say, Republican members of Congress did not.

But it IS an election year in the US. And the GOP can read the polls. 2/3 to 3/4 of the US population is ‘bone tired’ of illegal immigration. In 2007 the GOP was not so keen on enforcing US immigration law or securing the borders.

What changed? Tea Parties didn’t hurt. Angry voters got their attention. The anti-incumbent mood was a wake up call. This year the public may finally be heard. Thank you Arizona for getting the ball rolling again.

Obama, Calderon and the Shamnesty Antidote

Posted in Public Affairs, Terrorism, wordpress, Politics, GOP, Democrats, Immigration, Tancredo, United States, Law, Justice, obama, Arizona, Congress, Border Control, Legislation, Mexico, Blogs4Borders, 9/11, Jan Brewer on May 22nd, 2010 by Stanford Matthews

President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder and other US officials have not read SB 1070, the Arizona law signed by Governor Jan Brewer. Yet they criticize it and those who support it. The race card and other typical liberal tactics are employed to denounce opposition to illegal immigration and efforts to correct it. Both Democrats and Republicans and much of the corporate world support what they call ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ which is nothing more than open borders and amnesty for illegals.

President Calderon of Mexico addressed the US Congress this week. He criticizes US immigration policy even though enforcement rarely if ever exists. Allowing open borders and illegal immigration for decades is what caused the problem. An example of Mr Calderon’s dishonesty on this issue is demonstrated by the excerpt below.

Calderon Criticism of Arizona Law Overlooks Mexico’s Tough Immigration Policy

Mexico repeatedly has been cited by human rights groups for abusing or turning a blind eye to the abuse of migrants from Central America. Until recently, Mexican law made illegal immigration a criminal offense — anyone arrested for the violation could be fined, imprisoned for up to two years and deported. Mexican lawmakers changed that in 2008 to make illegal immigration a civil violation like it is in the United States, but their law still reads an awful lot like Arizona’s.

It’s real simple. The US needs strong immigration laws and associated enforcement. Employer sanctions are needed to dry up the job market for illegals. That effort and related immigration policies would solve the problem in a relatively short period of time.

And after self-deportation of illegals is achieved by eliminating taxpayer handouts that fuel illegal immigration supported by those listed above the liberal argument can finally be defeated. Meaning those who truly and honestly want to come here can get back in line and do it the right way. And those who have abused the situation for selfish purposes will no longer be enabled by lack of enforcement.

Will Obama’s Crew Get Any of It Right?

Posted in Public Affairs, Money Matters, Terrorism, wordpress, Politics, Hurricane Katrina, oil, Nuke, Russia, China, Iran, obama, Environment, Islam, Muslim, Mexico, Transportation on May 5th, 2010 by Stanford Matthews

There are simply too many troubling stories in recent weeks. And this post simply selects a few that demonstrate the contrast of issues needing attention. From the never ending failure to enforce immigration law in the US to years of ignoring an issue of equal importance to national security, Iranian nukes, President Obama adds his ‘Katrina’ to the list of issues railed on by liberals during the Bush years but now silent with the Messiah in the White House. And let’s not forget about financial reform, too big to fail, bailouts and the announcement of a merger between United and Continental airlines.

An estimated 10 to 12 million people are thought to have entered the United States illegally, and most come from Latin America. Hispanics are the largest minority group in the American southwest, and immigration reform has become a potent political issue in the Hispanic community, where calls for crackdowns on illegal immigration have been viewed as anti-Hispanic.

There was a time when the number of illegals was estimated near 30 million. Over time it has been greatly reduced. The excerpt above points to the problem. ‘People thought’ to be here illegally. More important is stating ‘most come from Latin America.’ That the largest minority group in the southwest is ‘hispanic’ and the ‘hispanic community’ protests enforcement of immigration laws speaks to the larger problem. Being here illegally, making the most noise about amnesty, expressing no intention of becoming American while invoking the race card explains the fallacy. Illegal immigration is an entirely self-serving proposition. It denounces the very principles it claims to represent.

President Barack Obama says an expanding oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico is a massive and unprecedented environmental disaster that will require a relentless, coordinated effort to overcome.

That ‘relentless, coordinated effort’ is taking a long time to begin. Compare this to reaction over the response to Katrina during the Bush administration. NOAA has had an oil spill response program for 15 or 20 years. So why the long delays here? Now it is suggested the oil slick will travel around Florida and up the east coast of the US. Another example of how ineffective big government is.

And then there is the small matter of a merger in the airline industry.

The merger between United and Continental Airlines will be worth some $3 billion.

The combined company will have nearly 700 planes, 80,000 employees, and fly to 370 destinations in 59 countries.

Airline industry expert Joseph Schwieterman of DePaul University in Chicago says the announcement is a positive sign for an industry that has struggled since the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and Washington.

The airline industry struggled long before 2001. In many ways the troubles of the airlines is quite similar to that of automobile manufacturers. So two airlines merge as the answer to solve their problems. It does nothing to confront the underlying problems of the industry. But it does present a possible example of what the current push for financial reform in Congress, too big to fail and more bailouts in the future will bring. More problems for the American taxpayer, consumers in general and evidence politicians have no idea what they’re doing or are lying to you about their intentions.

This post concludes with a brief mention of Iranian nukes. This issue is the most troubling in this list. Continued failure to properly address and resolve it may result in a mushroom cloud. The only positive outcome thus far illuminates ineffective leadership around the planet, not just the United States. And that is little consolation.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad kicked off the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference with a lengthy diatribe against the United States and other Western powers who seek to sanction his country for its controversial nuclear program.

Mr. Ahmadinejad spoke for more than half an hour, giving what has become something of his trademark - a speech criticizing the United States, Israel and invoking God - and sending the U.S., British and French delegations walking out of the hall in protest.

There is nothing new about this issue. The UN is as impotent as ever. The Obama administration has done nothing. China, Russia and Iran have used this issue to their collective advantage and no one else presents an answer. As another terrorist demonstrates how vulnerable to attack everyone is weak minds obsess on how to be fair to those who do not understand the concept. When will we treat terror threats like terror threats? Stop coddling those who support and produce terrorism and other acts of war.
