Campaign staff is hired in part to spin bad news into good. When two Democratic candidates conspire poorly to eliminate competition in front of open microphones, staffers are supposed to make the problem go away. Clinton’s staffer Howard Wolfson from Glover Park Group is up to the task. Plausible deniability is something you should get accustomed to if the nightmare of Hillary Rodham Clinton winning in 08 really happens.

There are some quotes that accompany the post below. Words that were apparently exchanged during the coup. Kucinich even published a very brief press release on the topic. In politics in the US it is as reasonable to believe this conspiracy theory as disbelieve it. But then what is a campaign if not trying to eliminate the competition? It is just that most fair-minded people would expect that process to be limited to debates and the voting process.

Contrary to interpretations of their private conversation last week — caught on an open microphone for all the political world to hear — neither former Senator John Edwards nor Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is secretly plotting to block lesser-known rivals from future Democratic presidential debates, the two candidates’ advisers said yesterday.
