FBI Seizes Nearly $2 Million from Las Vegas Warehouse Owned by David Copperfield
Washington
19 October 2007
FBI agents seized nearly $2 million in cash from a Las Vegas warehouse owned by illusionist David Copperfield.
Local media reports said agents also took a computer hard drive and a memory chip from a digital camera system during the October 17 operation. The reports said the raid stemmed from an investigation in Seattle.
In a statement cited by Las Vegas broadcasters, Copperfield’s attorney David Chesnoff said “We understand there is an investigation, are in touch with the investigators, and are respecting the confidentiality of the investigation.”
Local CBS affiliate KLAS-TV quoted a source as saying agents took the cash, which was stashed in a safe.
Born David Kotkin, the 51-year-old Copperfield is famed for such stunts as making the Statue of Liberty disappear and walking through the Great Wall of China. He regularly performs at the MGM Grand hotel in Las Vegas.
Apparently there is curiosity with some who are interested in his sexual orientation. He stands accused of raping a woman while in the Bahamas. He may not realize who the woman is. The two million seems unrelated at least until the Feds disclose the significance. With no interest at this blog to research the story, the only reason for posting this has more to do with people like Spears, Ritchie, Hilton or other obnoxious celebs. This may be the first time their names appeared on this blog. Hence, the Copperfield post is explained. Tough to write about morons like the ones just mentioned and at least Copperfield’s story, again, except for the rape allegations, seems a bit of a puzzle.
This just might be the first ‘entertainment’ or Hol_ywood post ever to appear here. Celebs already take up too much time in the media whether broadcast, print or other forms like the internet and blogs. If they are not showboating on some public affairs issue they’re tabloid fodder for misdeeds, missteps or as a target for gossip. Quite the waste of time as a human endeavor but still quite popular based on all the time dedicated to it. But this is all the time that will be used for it here and now. With any luck the urge to use a celeb story for an alternate purpose will not happen on this blog again.
