Legendary U.S. actor Paul Newman has died of cancer at the age of 83.
Newman appeared in over 50 films in a career spanning six decades. He was nominated for the Academy Award 10 times, and won the best actor Oscar for his role in the 1986 movie “The Color of Money.”
Often cast as rebellious but sympathetic characters, the versatile actor played major roles in films, including “Hud,” “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “The Sting,” and “Cool Hand Luke.”
Newman married another movie star, Joanne Woodward, in 1958, around the time the two appeared together in the movie “The Long Hot Summer.”
In 1982, on a whim, Newman founded a food company called Newman’s Own, which has generated some $250 million in profits - all of which was donated to charity.
