Good Flip-flops are Rare

Walter Reed Med CtrThis is one political flip-flop no one should mind. When the BRAC recommended closing Walter Reed in 2011, the thought of an incredible icon with a long history of service only raised the question. What’s the point? Just like when some successful defense systems are retired, closing Walter Reed seemed premature if for no other reason than its legacy. It was too bad when they retired the SR-71, the F-14. Walter Reed certainly served a different function than either of the two aircraft but their common link was service, pride, respect and reputation. This is a good political flip-flop for it offers an opportunity to right the wrong and restore the honor both for the medical center and all involved.
