John:
Your comment reminds me of some discussions around the time Karl Rove was departing the Bush Admin. It was suggested one school of thought proposed the GOP really wanted HRC to win the Dems nomination viewing her as the most beatable in a general election whereas Obama or Edwards would be stronger competition.

I can only guess the basis for that was her history is vulnerable while the other two have less history.

Thanks for stoppin' in. Good post. When time permits I'll take a look at your reference.

There's a long piece in this week's American Conservative on why the Hillary as daughter of Satan approach is a doomed strategy. Despite the good arguments in this piece many conservative activists not to mention the leading GOP candidates seem bent on pursuing this route. This movie is no doubt a regurgitation of all the old stuff which we've all heard before a million times, does it mention she murdered Vince Foster, do we care. I'm not going to repeat the arguments in American Conservative, you can go read them for yourselves, but it makes entire sense. Unfortunately many conservatives are not interested in sense these days they much rather indulge themselves in a Hillary auto da fe which is going to rebound massively particularly among women.
