Illinois Governor Arrested in Corruption Scandal
For those who are awaiting the crumbling of Illinois politics, the Chicago political machine, President-elect Barack Obama and anyone else connected to Governor Blagojevich it is suggested you withhold your excitement. The entities or groups listed above have survived for a long, long time. What are the odds that the arrest of an Illinois governor on corruption charges will inflict any permanent damage on anyone but Blagojevich?
But we can all make an exception here and invoke the liberal mantra of hope. We can all hope this event will flush a number of political careers down the….. drain.
An interesting note on the topic was featured on Sean Hannity’s radio program today. Axelrod had said Obama was in touch with the governor regarding a replacement for his Senate seat. Obama has stated he had no contact. Hmmmm. Can they both be right?
The only disappointing item in this story today is that Blagojevich was released on his own recognizance. Does anyone seriously believe that he has the integrity to receive this benefit from the courts? Right, wrong, honest or corrupt, being well-known has its perks.

Somebody on the radio suggested that this is the first in a long line of potential pardons in the offing from the President Elect from Chicago…
Of course after Blagojevich said “F*** Obama” maybe it won’t happen.

If the FBI had the manpower and investigated Illinois politicians, there would be a huge number of arrests from the Governor on down to precinct captains. The state of Illinois with Cook County being the epicenter is probably the most politically crooked state in the Union from top to bottom with Louisiana probably coming in a far distant second.
Perri, one will never know how many Illinois-based favors Obama has to make good ever since his political career was started under the wing of other well-known Crook County…er…Cook County politicians firmly entrenched in the Crook County (there I go again)…er…Cook County political machine. Obama was mentored by some of the most crooked political hacks known in Illinois.
A thought: can a state government be found to be so corrupt that it gets federalized until proper crooks replace the crooked crooks?

If it were not for crooks Congress could not maintain +/- 535 members and most other government entities would be barely populated. Congress, who else can declare war and set their own salaries. Okay, never mind.
Presidential pardons….there’s another misused but well intentioned executive power, by all who have used it.
