Kathy Sierra Stories
The author below presents some large assumptions. First he says Sierra is the latest casualty. If you are the recipient of unpleasant and possibly threatening text and graphics is the definition of a casualty? Again it is too soon to tell because there is no solid proof confirming much of anything.
In the very next line he states the blogosphere is rallying to her support. We are neither supporting or opposing Kathy Sierra and loosely defined we’re in the blogosphere. But we are stating that the reaction is moving faster than the story. People should let the facts catch up before drawing conclusions.
The activity following the initial event is then described as a ‘firestorm’. Rather melodramatic, don’t you think? So where is the obligatory conspiracy theory? How about this is all a very effective publicity stunt? Or maybe the quick focus on a few suspects is the story? One more time, we should all wait until more facts are developed.
Could someone point out to us when and where the blogosphere ‘erupted’ with indignation? We didn’t see or hear it and we were looking and listening. But religion and sex have entered with words like evangelist and misogyny. This story does have some life in it and with any luck at all, as the facts are determined over time the panic to resolve an issue where there is none will subside.
