MLK

When we let freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God’s children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last! free at last! thank God Almighty, we are free at last!”
from MoreWhat.com:
Just a simple tribute to another American who sacrificed everything for what he believed in and made a lasting contribution to the world.

Nice tribute. I think MLK would have very mixed feelings were he still alive today.

I think of all the ‘radical’ groups and individuals operating in those days and find some parallels to today. Although I respect MLKjr, his dedication and commitment it might be fair to assume his leanings were liberal although it is too easy to label and place everything in convenient categories. The mind likes order. So I wonder if he would be pleased with the political climate since the last campaign and election?
There are liberals and conservatives who I believe share opinions of each other’s philosophy but the politics interfere with that. Just as I believe that MLKjr may have been in large part a liberal I suspect he had some conservative notions as well.
Just because he championed civil rights does not necessarily mean he was a liberal.
