More Hillary Rodham Clinton Headlines

HRC

The head to head matchup between HRC and leading GOP candidates have been reported recently, as below, to indicate Hillary Rodham Clinton loses to all of them in a general. This also supports the suggestion for some time now that the GOP machinery favors Clinton for the opponent in 2008. Together with the earlier suggestion that HRC’s flawed history provided a target rich environment for political opponents opposes the notion by many liberals and others that Hillary is the default nominee of the Dems. Even HRC may not believe that with her recent attack mode attributed to Obama’s steady rise in the polls and lead or tie in the Iowa numbers.

Hillary Clinton Might Be the Least Electable Democrat
By Guy T. Saperstein, AlterNet.
December 7, 2007.

While Clinton maintains her lead in national polling among Democrats, in direct matchups against Republican presidential candidates, she consistently runs behind both Barack Obama and John Edwards. In the recent national Zogby Poll (Nov. 26, 2007), every major Republican presidential candidate beats Clinton: McCain beats her 42 percent to 38 percent; Giuliani beats her 43 percent to 40 percent; Romney beats her 43 percent to 40 percent; Huckabee beats her 44 percent to 39 percent; and Thompson beats her 44 percent to 40 percent, despite the fact Thompson barely appears to be awake most of the time.

One might expect after Norman Hsu, the Chinese dishwashers and at least two other criminals donating to HRC’s campaign war chest that a mandatory accounting and publication of donor data should be attached to each of her fund raising events but that probably won’t happen.

Author John Grisham apparently hosted the million dollar collection and there is an interesting excerpt from an AP report on the story.

Clinton Raises $1 Million at Fundraiser
By ANN SANNER - AP

Supporters drank hot chocolate and munched on cookies while children did crafts and made holiday cards, played with dreidels or had their pictures taken with either a snowman or reindeer character.

You can substitute Kook Aid for the words hot chocolate in the reference above or be especially kind this Christmas season and just warm your heart at the notion of children doing crafts and making cards at an HRC fund raiser.

The story below is not likely to go away any time soon. No need for much discussion here, just more sad facts about who is funding the Clinton campaign.

Bundle of trouble

On Tuesday, a federal grand jury indicted Norman Hsu - a businessman who pledged to raise more than $100,000 for the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign - on six counts of mail fraud, six counts of wire fraud and three counts of breaking federal election law

Leave it to the NYT to provide the humor thru a story via AP. Do you suppose someone put her up to ‘probably’ endorsing Clinton only to allow this blog to remind you of Bill’s sordid past? According to two statements by Bill Clinton he never inhaled and never had sexual relations with that woman (Lewinsky) so why not add G Flowers to the mix?

Gennifer Flowers May Vote for Clinton
The AP on NYT
December 7, 2007

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 6 (AP) — A onetime other woman in Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s life has said she is considering voting for the former first lady.

“I can’t help but want to support my own gender, and she’s as experienced as any of the others — except maybe Joe Biden,” the woman, Gennifer Flowers, said in a recent telephone interview from her home here.

One more headline revealing another Bill Clinton statement about as believable as the ones mentioned above. If you buy this Barbara Walters setup to support a Clinton third term, you haven’t been lied to enough yet.

Bill Clinton: I’d Sit in on Hillary’s Cabinet Meetings ‘Only If Asked’
Dec. 5, 2007—

For the first time in history, a former president has a good shot at getting back into the White House & as a spouse. And that’s just one reason why Bill Clinton is one of Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2007.”

If his wife wins the 2008 presidential election, would the former president sit in on cabinet meetings?

“Only if asked,” Clinton told Walters. “And I think it would only be wise if it were on a specific issue. I think it’s better for me to give her my advice privately most of the time.”

If you suffered through the Justin Timberlake portion of Walters’ celebrity cheerleading and did not change the channel before Bill Clinton’s promo was presented as entertainment news ala ‘rock star’ descriptions you have swallowed enough Kook Aid to be fooled again.

You must read a different Real Clear Politics than I do. I have her winning
most of the head to heads. Your article is simply misleading. It’s O.K. to be partisan or even a Clinton hater, but get your facts straight!

    Benjamin:
Read more carefully. Tell Alternet or Zogby to get their facts straight. That is the source if you had bothered to read the post.

  3. Troy Ware Says:

    Benjamin,

Don’t rely on your polls. The Republican and even the eventual Democratic nominee has not been introduced to the American people through a convention and campaign replete with ads and debates. I am a Democrat, but keep getting frustrated at these people who say support HRC, she does the best in the head to head polls. Those polls are meaningless at this point in time. Most of the American public is unlike the fired up political zealots who are following this race right now & haven’t even paid attention to it yet. HRC is really winning those polls on name recognition. I am not saying she can’t win a general election, but I am saying those polls you cite don’t mean sqwat!

    Troy:
I don’t rely on polls but offer examples of them for exactly this… discussion. The value of polls like many things is of limited usefulness. The contrast in results between different pollsters is what I find most interesting and sometimes bothersome. The degree to which they vary or the noticeable changes over just a matter of days does not inspire confidence in the results.

Thanks for stoppin’ and taking the time to share your opinion.

  5. Jan Says:

When you only cite one poll to make your poll, and all the other polls (most more reputable) indicate the opposite of the point you are trying to make, you lose your credibility.

Unfortunately for your reputation, WISHING Hillary wasn’t beating every Republican candidate in the head-to-head polls doesn’t make it true.

  6. Stanford Matthews Says:

Well Jan, at least you kept it brief this time. It would be more convincing if you cited the polls you mention, specifically, and further demonstrated how they are ‘more reputable’. You may have discovered I was not ‘wishing’ anything if you read the other comments. Troy and I both commented on the usefulness of polls.

Thanks for the concern about my reputation. Thanks for stoppin’ and taking the time to share your opinion.

re: “It would be more convincing if you cited the polls you mention, specifically, and further demonstrated how they are ‘more reputable’.”

As far as which poll is more reputable, I don’t really have the space to teach you what to look for. How the data is taken in reveals alot, as well as whether those being polled are registered voters are not.

But… some polls are like professional Las Vegas oddsmakers, and then some are kinda like your next-door neighbor’s opinion.
You’ve used “your next door neighbor’s opinion.”

If you want to quote head-to-head polls accurately , follow these instructions, for more thorough and accurate information:
    Go to RealClearPolls
Click on “polls” at the top
    Click on “head-to-heads”
See if you can find any poll where Clinton is losing to any of the Republican candidates.

I am hoping, as a writer, that you are concerned about your own reputation, and whether you are trying to spread Truth, or otherwise.

  8. Stanford Matthews Says:

So you think Zogby’s polls are not correct. I should only use polls at Real Clear Politics. And I should worry about my reputation and only publish ‘the truth’ rather than offering references and observations and opinions for discussion and let readers decide what they believe to be true.

I think it is true that Zogby published poll results that Jan does not agree are true. I also think Jan supports Clinton and anything that does not support Clinton bothers Jan. Is that true and can I publish that to save my reputation?

I have repeatedly disclosed my support for Mitt Romney, my dislike of the Clintons and the posts here, whatever the topic, are intended to promote discussion. They are intentionally designed to provoke a response to initiate discussion.

Here is a truth test for you, Jan. Did Lee Harvey Oswald act alone? Did anyone actually land on the moon? Was the US civil war about slavery? Was at least one of FDR’s aides a communist spy? Were the Rosenberg’s guilty?
