Newt Gingrich: Observing the Field

Newt GingrichNewt Gingrich is certainly right about one thing. It is too early to announce. Almost with a cast of thousands the 2008 cavalcade of stars tours the country for photo ops and soundbites. Either hoping or preventing campaign killing mistakes. Biden and Edwards have some campaign flaws. Clinton makes mistakes but no one seems to care. The rest of the Democratic candidates are relatively quiet.

McCain is up in the polls but like others has a few issue problems with various interest groups. Giuliani is the current poll favorite with his share of difficulty with social conservatives. Romney is fighting off the Kerry virus on issues and doing it better than the former candidate. Brownback may be gaining momentum and the remainder of the GOP field is quiet also

Newt Gingrich is a bit of a phenomenon. He speaks well. His proposals and commentary have substance. He is a former Speaker of the House and an author of the contract with America. The results of which may not be a plus in subsequent ventures into the public arena. The blame for results of that can be blamed on the entire GOP. Much like the failures before the 1994 Republican Congressional majority can be blamed on the Democrats.

But Newt Gingrich is definitely a potential candidate to study or review. There are two references for you to check below. The second is located on Newt’s website. So take a few minutes and give it a look.

Major online effort is growing to get Newt in the race. You can check it out at draftnewt.org

So Mark, are you officially connected with Draft Newt or is the plug for Newt strictly a personal viewpoint? While we don\’[t disallow readers expressing their preferences for candidates, it is a thin line before we\’re accused of official campaign support.
That said, Newt Gingrich seems to be polling well for someone not yet in the fray.

    Thanks for stopping in.
