Obamanation: Don’t Confuse Agenda with Solution
Some basic things the new President does not understand. It was obvious to many that the liberal mantra of hope and change adopted by Barack Obama early in the 2008 campaign was nothing new, returned to the empty liberal philosophy of hope and not likely to change anything as people might otherwise expect. The Democrats including President Obama rarely if ever resist the worn out political tactic of blaming the other guys. There has been more focus on the other guys, the past and a blame game to distract from the new administration’s inability to govern effectively. It sounds familiar to what you may have heard in the workplace. A not so uncommon refrain from management to those they supervise expresses the notion one should not bring their boss problems but solutions. Telling a boss what is wrong or why it is that way solves nothing. In this case the public is the boss and the President is being admonished for a lack of solutions and continuous restatement of problems.
President Barack Hussein Obama would have you believe he is providing solutions. The truth reveals he is presenting his agenda. There is nothing about an agenda that guarantees a solution.. It is merely a choice or a course of action selected. It may have nothing to do with solving problems that a sitting President needs to address. Mr Obama’s hope and change agenda would have been presented regardless of the conditions in our country. It did not matter what was happening at the time of the campaign or election. All that mattered was getting elected so the Obama agenda could be put in place.
A string of failed nominations in the administration and little chance those who have been confirmed are anything more than an agenda item indicates an agenda short on substance. Mr Obama’s signed legislation list on the White House website is another indicator of performance. The Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, SCHIPs, the DTV Delay Act and a bloated, earmarked, porkulized, government expanding, artificial job creation American Recovery and Reinvestment Act complete the list. This features a contrast to health care reform by sustaining loser programs like SCHIPs. The Ledbetter Act is old business and of limited usefulness. The DTV Act prominently displays another government blunder. And last but certainly not least there is absolutely no hope or change involved in the PORKULUS package.
President Obama failed miserably with the only change he has provided to this point. Repeated reminders to date of a campaign promise for transparency met its largest test with the so-called stimulus legislation. The President said the public would have time before a vote to review and comment on the bill. Not only was that promise broken but even legislators were not able to read the 1000 plus page document. Obama broke the promise and to add insult to injury allowed Pelosi’s posse to write the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The ‘change’ is to campaign promises and not honoring them.
Now it is on to the health care reform ’sideshow’. On the White House website they have a feature on health care reform.

It is under the heading of ‘the blog’. This is something else the new President does not understand. There are long standing traditions, rituals and other characteristics associated with various parts of American culture that are part and parcel of how things are done. While some may suggest that a departure from this sort of thing is a natural progression, others, including the author of this blog disagree. There is not only a certain comfort and confidence provided by practices that are steeped in
tradition that has withstood the test of time but the ability to rely on a set of circumstances which reduce concern of instability. The Obama ‘change’ to the US government’s internet presence, method of limiting what is available and moving toward a popular culture flavor to the Office of President of the United States does not reflect well on this President or the Office.
If anything the change wrought by Obama in terms of interacting with the federal government has limited the transparency and accountability he promised and likewise done nothing for his additional promise of changing how Washington works. The lobbyists and tainted officials are still there. The new people in Washington to fill vacancies from the previous administration are riddled with controversy, questionable histories and resumes’. The dragon of Illinois politics still rears its ugly head and impacts the Obama presidency. After allowing confirmation of Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary even with his new nickname Turbo Tax Cheat Geithner has failed miserably to date. It has been reported the Obama Administration still does not have all staff in place, on board or functioning and that includes Treasury. Is it any wonder why financial matters are still in free fall? A look around this new administration offers many more examples of this sad tale.
Many people last year were wishing Barack Obama would be elected President. Sure enough, that presents another common refrain. Be careful what you wish for. With the GOP in the minority it is easy to assume all their actions are the result of disarray. When it appears they are not opposing Mr Obama and the opposition party do not simply draw that conclusion. It could be that they are sometimes adopting the sentiment of another old saying that suggests what happens if you give a person enough rope, figuratively speaking of course.
