Prelude to Anarchy

They weren’t kidding when they said the Coleman/Franken election dispute would last for months. Ahd what may appear to be the impending conclusion of this saga may not be a conclusion at all.

In an age where satellite surveillance can read a license plate from 150 miles up, stem cell research and human cloning are no longer science fiction and man-made vehicles can travel billions of miles from Earth we still cannot seem to find a precision method for determining who may legally vote and then provide the correct result on the outcome of an election.

With the US Treasury ‘bailing out’ every loser on the planet, legislators attempting to abandon the US Constitution and a new American President surrendering everything he can to foreign interests who the hell can maintain interest in the outcome of a US Senate election in the state of Minnesota?

Are we able to, with any frequency, do things properly in this country any longer? It seems that from the most complex mysteries to the simplest task we, as Americans, struggle at every turn. When will the ground swell develop to return this nation to a more reasonable and deliberate course without all the noise from radical everything?

In other words, whatever happened to good old-fashioned American common sense?

Senate recount down to 387 ballots - and almost certain appeal
As the three-judge panel nears a decision, both sides are preparing for the next step.

A mere 225 votes separate the two contestants, with DFLer Franken clinging to a lead that has been as stubborn as it is narrow.

Now, the last few hundred ballots have been couriered from all corners of the state to Room 300 in the state’s Judicial Building in St. Paul, and at 9:30 a.m. sharp, state Elections Director Gary Poser will once again begin the process of counting under the watchful eyes of the three judges who have been hearing the election trial and who could issue a final ruling within days.

But few expect the decision to end a race that has left Minnesota as the only state in the nation with a single senator serving it at one of the most critical junctures in recent history.
