Public Opposition to Amnesty Growing (poll)
More and more, Americans oppose the S. 1348 amnesty bill. Over half now believe that no bill is better than amnesty. The logic in that is what doesn’t work now is better than compounding the problem with amnesty. With those opposed to the nonsense of amnesty and the numbers increasing overall on those opposed to S. 1348, those previously supporting the bill must have had enough time to determine amnesty is a bad thing.
Perhaps the anger reflected in the historically low approval rating of Congress will begin to sink in with members of Congress. If they are all so worried about 2008 elections, they would be wise to listen to American voters. It would not be surprising if for one of two reasons even those who lean left would start heading to the right. The Presidential candidates of the GOP are better than those on the left. The failed Democratic majority may have disappointed the left enough to throw their votes to the GOP. In a country where you only have typically two choices in an election, D or R, throwing the bums out requires a selection of the incumbent’s opponent.
It is time that Americans start standing behind those who offer the best chance of supporting American values and what is right for America. There are no perfect choices. But everything is beginning to point to voter disapproval. The midterms displayed some of that sentiment and more will be present in 2008. There is just a chance that the voting public has finally reached saturation level where loyalty to party or giving incumbents 2nd chance is over and done. It would be great if this was true. Voters providing the most honest term limits with their votes. Get it done or prove yourself in one term or hit the road.
The next polls on immigration reform will bear this out if the lack of support for S. 1348 falls further. It would be another mistake of Congress to place border security and immigration control on a back burner if S. 1348 fails. For the intellectually challenged or lobbyist pandering politician needs help understanding this concept be warned. The voting public is giving you every opportunity between now and the 2008 elections to forget about amnesty and pass strict immigration reform or simply enforce existing law. Bottom line is to return this country to the condition it was in before you chose to ignore national security. Americans may actually start taking back their country. That would make 2008 an mpressive thing to watch. Stay tuned.

If George W. Bush hasn’t already sealed his spot in history as the worst U.S. president in the last 100 years, the amnesty bill will do it for him…

My personal favorite for the category is President Richard Milhouse Nixon. And not for the reasons most people would think. Although Watergate was no small indiscretion.
