Romney: Nation’s immigration system ‘a mess’

To be fair, an article of Amy Lorentzen’s from AP was criticized here earlier, so here is one that causes no concern. That is probably because it offers the facts of the events with no commentary or analysis. But there is nothing to complain about as no bias is present.

JEFFERSON - Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney on Monday gave a succinct description of the nation’s immigration system: a mess.

The former Massachusetts governor said that while the system must be changed to protect the nation’s borders, an immigration reform bill that was shot down last week in Congress was a flawed solution, in part because it included “a major amnesty provision.'’

“The people of America said ‘Stop, that’s just wrong,’ and (lawmakers) finally had to listen to the fact,'’ Romney told about 100 people during a town-hall style meeting at a golf course in Jefferson. “Well, a few senators — both Republican and Democrat — listened to the people long enough to say ‘We’re stopping this bill.”’
