Selective Use of Moral Outrage

If anyone has witnessed any of the following questions raised in the main stream media outlets please post a comment on this blog detailing the information. It’s about all the fuss over interrogation of, what do we call them now, terrorists, no, prisoners of war, no, some kind of combatant. Or is it detainee? Besides the ‘professionals’ publishing the most widely distributed accounts of current events (won’t call it news right now) in the main stream media as it is often described, no one seems to be spending much time asking obvious questions about the reports as each one comes out.
Based on the excerpt from such a report below, just in the title, does it not make you ask how a ‘former agent’ for the CIA knows that waterboarding was approved at ‘top levels? When the report came out that a former agent was blabbing to the press, the question you may have asked was this. Why is a former agent doing this? Are they allowed to do this? Do their oaths expire upon leaving the agency? Is that professional behavior? Is that really in the country’s best interest? In other words is that right? Does it not make you ask if he has his own agenda or personal reasons for doing this? What does he have to gain? Did someone put him up to it? Hey, it’s not like that sort of thing never happened before. Is he looking for a book deal?
Agent says waterboard was OK’d at top levels
If you read the excerpt or followed the link and returned, the quotes and summary provide opinion and assumptions with nothing supporting the claims. How does this former agent ‘know’ the White House approved it? Not saying it is not possible but it seems one making such serious statements that can have very serious consequences for others should be backed up by strong evidence. All this does is fuel the political fires and does little for the justice some say they seek. If there is so much moral outrage where is it for the press and the process? That may be why some people complain about the way matters are handled publicly in this country. A little discretion before someone starts building the fire could allow a more thorough and less politically charged investigation to proceed. Enough with the witch hunt atmosphere. How about a little common sense and due diligence vetting leaks to the press and volunteer witnesses. Taking their claims at face value is ridiculous.
