Sen Harry Reid’s Dangerous Politics
Of the nine press releases listed on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s website as of this morning, 7 are about Iraq, one about Latinos and one about prayer. With Speaker Pelosi suggesting funding for the troops in 2 month teasers and suing the President over a signing statement on the Iraq bill, Harry Reid’s statement on Dems being united to ‘give troops strategy for success’ is ludicrous. The mention of celebrating contributions of Latinos is code for, yes, the only thing the Dems agree with the President on is amnesty for illegal immigrants. And if Latinos are offended by their assertion that discussing illegal immigration unfairly targets them, perhaps if the published numbers pointed to another group as having millions of illegals in this country, they wouldn’t be in focus. But that concern is contradicted by their argument that illegals from Mexico do jobs Americans won’t. You can’t have it both ways. And the lone other release topic is on prayer. That is a pathetic attempt by Reid to appear concerned about anything but Iraq and its political importance to him when supporting the troops and success in Iraq should be.
