Senate’s Amnesty Plan Won’t Fly
This post at Congress Blog by Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite at least in part addresses the fact that there is some understanding of illegal immigration being responsible in part for the lowest Congressional approval rating in years. The problem is not so much how does Congress solve this but if they are willing to do what is right.
If they choose to pander to the US Chamber of Commerce and all the wallets supporting open borders as well as the whining from special interest advocating illegal immigration or rejecting the rule of law, nothing will change. It is the opinion of this blog that failing to apply the rule of law on this issue will do more damage than any political consequence keeping them from doing the right thing.
Keeping ‘them’ in the shadows. Creating a permanent underclass. Doing jobs Americans won’t do. And all the other open borders arguments are as lame as the business community claiming they can’t live without illegal immigration. At least have the courage to honestly express favoring illegal immigration for what it is. A cheap way to get what you want. That applies to both sides of employing illegal immigrants. Employers get cheap help and illegals get cheap access. The problem is forgetting the consequences of your actions. But those thoughts are never considered by those who choose to break the law. Risking the security, well-being and protection of this nation never enters the mind of lawbreakers.

Senate’s Amnesty Plan Won’t Fly
(Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite)
May 19th, 2007
It seems I will never stop being stunned by the audacity and chutzpah of the United States Senate. I’ve known for a while now that Senators Kennedy (D-Mass.) and Reid (D-Nev.) were tone deaf when they proposed opening our borders and granting illegal immigrants amnesty, but I did not know Senate Republicans would follow their misguided lead. I guess I was proven wrong once again.
