Tancredo Needs a Campaign
The only person in the 2008 Presidential campaign with a respectable focus on solving illegal immigration is Rep Tom Tancredo. During the debate in South Carolina he was able to at least mention the problem where it would receive national exposure not clouding the issue with misguided bleeding hearts, chicken politicians or others profiting from the dual exploitation caused by a lack of border control and immigration enforcement. Of all those who claim to be strong on national defense and security, Tancredo is the only candidate who has not carefully omitted taking a stand and merely say we need ‘reform’. That would be the code word for amnesty.
Fortunately and by coincidence, the 2008 Presidential campaign season got underway very early. Plenty of time for state and local government initiative against illegal immigration to take hold and force the debate. It also gives Tancredo time to rearm his campaign not unlike McCain and have this come to a head just in time for the primaries.
We’re hoping Congressman Tancredo kicks it up a notch and connects with those who are supporting his stand at the local and state levels where plenty of quiet votes are willing to back a serious candidate that includes this issue.

Rep. Tom Tancredo has set a new benchmark in his uphill race for the White House, but he said it’s still too early to say what will happen if the goal isn’t met.Tancredo, R-Littleton, said this morning he’s hoping to rank at least 5th in the Iowa Republican Party’s straw poll in Ames on August 11, or else it could become difficult to continue his campaign.
