The Trials of AOL

Internet and ISPsDefendants Acquitted in AOL Trial

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Two former midlevel executives at America Online were acquitted Tuesday on all counts of charges that they conspired with a now-defunct Las Vegas software firm to inflate its revenue with secret side deals and backdated contracts….

Another fine example of American ingenuity. In the early days, Steve Case was the much maligned chief of AOL. The ISP had a reputation for lagging behind on promised services and customer support. Complaints were so widespread that subscribers were venting their frustration by petitioning Case and complaining in the chat rooms. Those who offended AOL the most were banned from the service.

By any accounts heard since, there is nothing to indicate that has changed. The trial above makes one wonder, about that and much more.
