Southwest Florida voter turnout lower than expected

LEE COUNTY: Election officials from around Southwest Florida
explained that the voter turnout during Tuesday’s election was not
as good as was hoped.

By the end of the night, officials expect between a 20 and 25-percent
voter turnout. Primary elections are usually slower than general
elections. But even with that statistic in mind, voter turnout still appears
to be low.

By contrast, Iraqi voters in 2005 had a turnout of 58% in a combat zone.
Under threat of death from insurgents, 8.5 million cast their votes. Yet in
this country we discount many bad turnouts to the fact it was a primary
election or the weather was bad. Sad but true in a country that prides itself
on Constitutional freedoms. But we forget that freedom comes
with responsibility for which many have and are dying. Get your lazy ass
out and vote. Or at least do not complain if you do not vote.

No major glitches with light voter turnout

By Diane Hirth

While primary election turnout in Leon County is
light so far, the positive side is no long lines
and no major problems at the polls.

…Turnout? “Lower than I’ve seen” in the past,
said Wes Collins, clerk for precinct 5109 at
Lafayette Park Community Center. By 10:30 a.m.,
about 100 voters had cast ballots there, compared
to as many as 400 voters by that time of day in
past primaries.

No voting glitches in Florida? Say it ain’t so. Wait until the losers weigh in.
Bet we’ll find some then. Again light turn out and that is still unacceptable.

In a totally unrelated note:

Y’all complained about Dan Rather for years, now you have Katie…….
careful what you wish for………
Hey!!!!!!!!! ABC !!!!! Bring back Ted Koppel………..Nightline is as lame
as Congress.

WalMart is crap. Very successful crap, but crap nonetheless.

Another American industry icon gets one step closer to oblivion. Ford is
losing Ford. Save Boeing then save Ford. Maybe. When the Ford Probe
came out in the eighties we knew something was wrong. Why can’t America
build America? If you are younger than 40 don’t answer that question. If
you belong to a political party don’t answer that question.

In a blow to big money campaigning, please vote for whoever did not get
Democrat or Republican party major campaign ads recently. Since the two
major parties are loading up on who they now believe will win their primaries,
make ‘em waste that money. It will serve you best in the long run.

To the President, Speaker of the House, Majority Leader and Majority Whip:
Rethink your statements, releases and sound bites on the economy, jobs and
general condition of country’s finances. Posts to the contrary to follow later
this week.

So Hillary expects a Democratic win this fall and she can be the boss? Why
campaign for Prez in 08 when you have a chance to pad your non-existent
resume? So Hillary, what happened to your and Bill’s 92 centerpiece…….
healthcare? Here we sit a decade and a half later and it is still a problem.
Made a nice campaign soundbite though, didn’t it? Just like the latest fashions,
sounds like it’s coming back again. Not to be in our lifetime. Make sure you
keep the illegals here so you can have someone new to lie to.

Wealthy politicians and their friends don’t have to worry how things turnout.
When you have all you need, who cares. Just prolong the gravy train.
